Gentle, Integrative Root Canal Therapy in Brentwood

Root canal therapy can save a tooth that has become severely infected or decayed, and at Primary Integrative Dentistry, we take a different approach than most practices. Led by Dr. Tzur Gabi, a board-certified prosthodontist with advanced training in full-mouth rehabilitation, our Brentwood office combines traditional root canal treatment with regenerative endodontics techniques that work with your body’s natural healing ability.

When diagnosis indicates the need for root canal treatment in Los Angeles, our first priority is your comfort and long-term tooth health. We use ozone therapy for thorough canal disinfection, biocompatible materials like mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA), and advanced 3D CBCT imaging for precise diagnosis. Our integrative approach means fewer complications, faster healing, and better outcomes for your natural tooth.

Signs You May Need Root Canal Treatment

  • Spontaneous pain even when you’re not eating or drinking
  • Pain that wakes you up in the middle of the night
  • Toothache that worsens when pressure is applied or when eating
  • Darkening or discoloration of a tooth
  • Recurring swelling of the gums
  • Tenderness in the gums
  • Extreme sensitivity to cold or heat
You Need A Root Canal

Ignoring these signs can lead to serious complications including abscess formation, bone loss, or the spread of infection to neighboring teeth. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, schedule a consultation with Dr. Gabi for a thorough evaluation. Early intervention with our integrative approach may allow us to preserve more of your natural tooth structure through regenerative techniques rather than traditional root canal therapy alone.

What to Expect During Root Canal Treatment

For most patients, a root canal at Primary Integrative Dentistry can be completed in a single visit. We begin with a comprehensive evaluation using 3D CBCT imaging to map the full anatomy of your tooth and surrounding bone. Our pre-treatment preparation ensures that both the tooth and the affected area are fully anesthetized for the entire procedure. We also offer sedation options for patients who experience dental anxiety.

Once the tooth is treated, we typically recommend protecting it with a porcelain crown to prevent fracture and restore full function.

During Your Root Canal Procedure

After full anesthesia is achieved, Dr. Gabi removes the infected or damaged pulp tissue from inside the tooth. We use ozone therapy to thoroughly disinfect the canal system, reaching microscopic tubules that traditional irrigation alone cannot access. This step significantly reduces the risk of reinfection.

If your tooth was severely infected, we may place a bioactive medication in your canals for one to two weeks before completing treatment. A temporary filling keeps the area sterile between visits. The tooth is adjusted so it does not bear full biting pressure during the healing process.

Recovery and Aftercare

After treatment, mild tenderness near the treated tooth is normal and typically resolves within two to three days. Avoid chewing on that side until the tenderness has fully subsided. Dr. Gabi will prescribe a final restoration, usually a porcelain crown, to protect the tooth long-term.

For patients whose teeth may benefit from pulp regeneration rather than standard root canal therapy, we also offer regenerative endodontics procedures including vital pulp therapy, apexogenesis, and revascularization.
